We start a new month today, February 2016. Valentines Day and Black History month are featured in our culture (and in the case of the former, in our grocery stores, the seasonal items aisle). Frederick Douglass was a renowned figure in our nation's history, as well as Black History.
Born in the USA, as a slave, he escaped to freedom. He became an orator, a champion of abolitionism and suffrage, and spoke openly of his faith, and his ideas of how faith should be practiced. His ideas might be summed up in this quote -- "I would unite with anybody to do right, and with nobody to do wrong." (Anti-Slavery Movement lecture 1855)
